Hello All, I pop in and out of the List as I have time (little) and when I have questions. I didn’t originally see this round of Peter Debate, but I did read up on it because in his own post the word “feminist” caught my eye. I read the messages, and I saw lots of complaints about “snark,” “hostility,” “rudeness” and whatnot.
The reason I only pop in and out of the A&A List is because every time I ask a professional question I feel my responses are treated with “snark,” “hostility,” “rudeness” and whatnot. I have gotten, “Why don’t you own XYZ book as a professional?” in what I felt were aggressive tones.
Overall, I don’t like the tone of this list at all, and it’s why I quit reading. Too little constructive help as I started my career thrown into an “archive” in the absolute loosest terms as a Lone Arranger. When I needed the most help, I felt belittled by the majority of my “peers”---and these were personal responses, maybe 50/50 to the list and directly to me, and maybe 2 or 3 of the responses I would see were actually what I felt to be constructive.
I visit my local organization now almost exclusively because this list has so little reliability in helpfulness of suggestion.
